I would consider the MAF-T if someone here can:

1. Prove that its a smooth, easy to tune daily driver.
2. Self-tune it into a consistent low 12 second car.

Thats not helping any Jovan, he wants a fast example  ;)

My 2G mass is going to stay in there for a while, when I hit that 11 ( IF EVER) I may build a MAft and try it. By then maybe it will have been proven a bit more, the technology is more advanced (GM ) but not in my opinion better than a 2G mass at sub-supercar power levels.

Maybe Mr Lore will chime in here?

Point #1:

I put a huge emphasis on street driveability with mods.

Point #2:

How many cars in the BCDSM top 10 list run the MAF-T?  Only Jack's.....

I'm certainly not call Jack's car slow.  But there is a world of difference between a 13.2 second car and 12.2 second car.

Mr. Lore apparently is working with one, but he has yet to make an appearance at the track, or let us know what he thinks of it......

Do a cost comparison between the MAF-T plus GM sensor vs 2G MAS.....

HKS stopped making them last year sometime, if I could get my hands on one for a decent price I would snap it up. 550 chip too!  People seem to sell them for more than what they paid initally.

"back in tha day" Burshurs boys do fine with the VPC/AFC/550 combo, old school DSM mixer for fast cars.

UPDATE:  I've managed to track down an EPROM ECU with a TMO stage 3 chip for a fairly good price.  The problem is that its for a '90.  The guy says he has it on his '91 and that he had to convert some stuff from the VFAQ to make it work.  I realise the trims will be constrained to 80-120, but I think thats of little consequence. What do you guys think? worth it?

i'd say its not of little consequence on a daily driver.  I don't have a 90, but I am running my trims over 130.

Then again, like I said, I have a 91, so maybe ask someone who has more experience with the 90 ECU, say maybe Fraser or Lowell??

The 90 ECU has less trim adjustability, but it also has less aggressive timing pull characteristics as compaired to the 91-94 code. I myself run the 91-94 code in my 90 ECU with no issues, and you will have no problems running the older code in yours.

I doubt you will ever notice any change in any aspect of it normal operation.

I go without the internet for a few weeks and looks like I missed out on all the fun.

Chris, street driveability with the MAFT is virtually identical to stock, unlike the VPC at idle from what I hear. Can't tell the difference even from veteran DSM drivers until I open the hood.

I won't put too much on my ET either. I hate to admit it but the ETt is the result of the loose nut behind the wheel and not the car itself. As John will eagerly attest to, I can't drive *@!@. I'm still ripping those fast 2.1 60'   and have a 1.5sec difference between my fastest and slowest run ON THE SAME NIGHT. Even sadder, my brother took my car out a couple years back and got 13.15 with the 14b, 1g MAS and less mods.

Oh well, I'm more of a apex guy anyway.

Me, too.    Good to hear that the MAFT is street-driveable.   One day I may try one out......

As for mods, and going slower, its all tuning........ (and practice)....  As for my 12.3,  how many times have I raced this year?   Not enough........  :(
