You won't hit high 300's with 550's. it's that simple.
I would be suprised if it hit 300 at all.

I think my number is pretty accurate, considering my mods and what power I made. I cant see you doing much more than I did.

Your car will fit on the dyno, mine did and I couldn't clear a squirrel laying down on the highway.

Just need some blocks and such to get on easier. All my lowered cars have fit on RG's dyno, my DSM being the lowest I had.

So now it's going to be .040 bore instead of .020

Apparently there's a gouge that needs to be taken out of one of the cylinder walls so it's going to the machine shop.

Where does the .20 or .40 come from? It should either be written as 40 thousandths or 0.040", should it not?

So it went to the machine shop to have the .040 bore and it turns out that the gouge still didn't come out. So far they've only done the one cylinder at .040 but they want to know if I want to sleeve it to get rid of the gouge.

What's your guys' opinions on this? Considering that the block is already there and they just need the word to go ahead with it, should I just have them sleeve the one bad one and then re-bore to .040 and then bring the rest to .040? At this point I'm getting really frustrated because I don't really want to throw more money at another block that may or may not need work.

Long story short...sleeving it is good or risky?

I've read up a bit on it and it looks like it can't really be a bad thing, I value your guys' input so thought I'd ask before moving forward.

Thanks.
Ryan

New block.    I wouldnt waste my time with modifying the block to work.  Im in the same boat as you.  Ive made it clear that I dont spend money on shit that will work.  I expect it all to be to spec.

Sleeving engines can work... But from what I have seen in the industry, it usually leads to problems down the road.

Sounds like the block is now a boat ancher,  time to continue the search it sounds like.

I have also never heard of anyone sleeving a 4g63....  Some people do oring the block... But like I said. Never heard of a sleeved 4g63.... Mostly aluminun blocked engines like sleeves....  And if u were to sleeve,  don't they put sleeve inserts in all the cylinders to even out the stresses and such?
