Saturday and Sunday, the Piccadilly Pub, 622 West Pender, will rock to 40 alternative rock bands lending their talents to Band Aid: The Vancouver Tsunami Relief Effort. The fundraiser kicks off at 3 p.m. Saturday and goes to 2 a.m. Sunday, then reconvenes at 3 p.m. Sunday and goes to 1 a.m. Monday. Confirmed acts include Rose Ranger, the Red Scare and the Weedies, and money will go to the Red Cross and World Vision.
On Monday, Richard's on Richards will be the site of another benefit concert for the Red Cross. Juno Award-winning DJ Ivana Santilli headlines a lineup that includes the U.K.'s Killa Kela and Vancouver's own Sekoya and No Luck Club.
On Jan. 13, Tina Turner imitator Luisa Marshall will do a benefit at Celebrities, 1022 Davie.
