Car has no power
« on: April 03, 2006, 10:24:17 pm »
Timing belt + bs belt were done day before. Car worked and sounded fine. Whats happening now is car idles rough, has no power and it sounds like tractor. Engine works only on 2 cylinders. So far I checked for vacuum leaks, spark plug wires, spark plugs, (wires + plugs are 2 month old) also plugs are gapped correctly. Fuel is good. That all is fine. Thats how far I got tonight before it started to rain. Now Im thinking it must be ignition coil? Will do compression check also. What else can I check, look for?
Its 91 laser turbo.

Thanks in advance!

Did you ground out the little plug/wire, to reset everything? have you put a timing light on your car yet to see where your timing is at? If not there are a couple good places to start!

I have not tried grounding plug/wire. I dont think that will solve my problem. I dont have a timing light.

hmm

Well itt wouldn't explain 2 cylinders not firing, but are you sure that the lowe BS was in sync? Like stick a long screw driver in the hole and make sure it's no more then 30cm, or 60 or whatever it is?

I agree with Mike, sounds ign related, but being that you just did timing belt, double and triple check ALL the valve timing marks.

Did compression check and cylinders 1&2 have only 20-25psi. Pulled the head out and found a burned head gasket. Fun Fun Fun.
