Fuel Injector install
« on: March 02, 2007, 10:24:55 pm »
I am trying to reinstall my fuel rail and injectors attached naturally, and I bolt them down and there is a gap between the injector and the head( 1/2-1/4") doesn't look normal..Are there supposed to be O-rings on the end of the injectors? I sent the head off to get rebuilt and wasnt paying close attention to this particular part.

Matt, they're called insulators. You need new ones. Basically they are mini rubber hockey pucks with a hole in the middle for the injector.

As a side tip glue the plastic rail isolators to the head so they don't fall off when you go to bolt the rail down

I think the word Ryan's looking for is "rubber donuts" :).  BTW, don't buy those from Chrysler...they wanted $16 A PIECE the last time I checked.  Most injector places have them for about $1 to $2.

And yes, definately glue down the fuel rail mounting spacers, or you'll find out very intimately that between the engine and the AC compressor mount is not a very accessible place...

while you are at it, put in some new upper and lower O-rings too.  May as well change the fuel filter too.
