Headlight Corrosion
« on: September 21, 2008, 07:23:26 pm »
So my drivers side headlight suddenly stopped working after two years. I had those Asian Eurolite bulbs that worked fine. When i took the bulb out I noticed that the prongs in the white outlet from the headlight was completely corroded. It was all black, and the two metal prongs were essentially withering away.

So two questions. To remedy this issue, do I simply need to purchase a new harness, and just cut the old harness out and solder the new wires to the harness. Or does the issue relate back further to some electrical problem that has to be fixed. I know those bulbs I had were pretty shitty, so could it have been simply the bulbs overheating and melting the internals,

Thanks, and where did you purchase your harness? Did you get it in Victoria?

Ryan, I had a similar issue with headlight wiring. A bulb that I had fused itself to the socket/harness leading to it.

To replace the wiring to the headlight, the dealership will want to sell you a new wiring harness.

I'd suggest finding a parts car and poaching the stuff you need off of it.
Objects in mirrors appear to be losing.
