To anyone putting together a meth kit.
« on: September 03, 2011, 11:22:04 am »
I have had great success with Surrey fluid and power.

They were one of the first and still one of the only SMC suppliers around.   They are located on 130 and 84th in Surrey.

-I bought my Solenoid there for $50
-I bought 2 check valves yesterday at $14 each  ($33 total)    7psi cracking pressure.
-They have every push fitting connector.
-They have line
-Im sure they carry shur-flo pumps too.

  -   Im working on getting an inline filter thru them which is compatible with pure meth. all in all Ive been very happy with the service and their pricing. Reason for this post is I believe that there are other members interested in putting together a meth kit for cheap and this place has been a Gem for me!

very cool!!  Local is nice.

The SMC soleniod is cheap!

See if they can find 15psi crack pressure check valves tho.

i know!  i only managed to get the 7psi crack pressure. Im going to try this week.  Do you think the 7psi will be an issue tho?   my 4" intake will never see a strong vacuum...  The charge piping only sees a small spike of vacuum when the throttle plate is JUST opened, then the turbo produces a positive pressure..      is this in any way a concern?  or do you recommend the 15 just so the line pressure will not leak down to 7psi.  As far as I can see the checks are working perfect.  Neither leak after the meth has been triggered.     Im still going to try to get a higher crack pressure , but just out of curiosity...

no I am sure its just fine.  Aquamist(who used to make water injection systems for F1 cars, and WRC cars) makes 15psi valves is all.

Damn you! I just wasted my day here at work browsing SMC's catalog of connectors and tubing. ;)

Thanks for the info!

so if I went to roll my own (using bug juice), I would need:

container (I would use rear window washer tank)
pump
hose
check valve
nozzle
solenoid

Am I missing anything?  How do I trigger the spray?

either super ghetto with a home made throttle triggered switch, with a boost pressure activated switch or something more exotic.

I would also put in a filter pre pump.  And I would run a relay to the pump, a fuse to the pump and solenoid and a switch for the pump, just in case you need to kill it for whatever reason.

yea that seems to go well  :)

I will fill it with water and set the trigger to about 2-3 psi then drive up long hills to steam clean it out good yo!

With the my rough "get me to RG" tune     the pickup between 10 and 22psi is a lot faster compared to the non-water meth setup ( and i only have water in the system right now )      I wont be loading meth into the system till a couple days before dyno tuning. The checks appear to be doing their job just fine.

To follow up.. The check valves offered from Surrey Fluid/Power arent ideal. Turns out the ones I got have a cracking pressure of 0.7psi     and not   7.0psi

The only other check valve they carried which was even close to our methanol pressure ratings was the rated for about 2 psi.    (no good)

I suggest that you buy a check valve off Ebay.  Im going this route.     But for everything else, Surrey Fluid and Powers got it!
