Just noticed a new dash light.
« on: April 18, 2013, 07:39:05 am »

I was unaware that there is a SECURITY light on the dash.  It is green and comes on when I lock the doors and goes out after a few seconds.  Is there a passive security that will disable the car if it is broken into or is it just for show?

its only for your factory alarm system .. the alarm doesnt disable anything jjust makes loud noises , if your not sure still roll down your windows put the alarm on open the door from the inside and try and start it lol ,

in other words try and  steal your own car with your key haha

It will sound the alarm and flash the headlights/hazards even if you start the car. It will not disable your car though. I used to have two different keys for my convertable's ignition and doors. I locked the car and forgot my door key but good thing i left the top open. I drove with the alarms on/lights flashing. People were looking at me funny  ;D ;D ;D so i ended up taking the security fuse, relay and disconnect the horns including
behind the battery. She's all fix now with one key only. I ended up recoding the doors and hatch ;D ;D ;D

ya on my old blue 1g i had the stock alarm on it and no key remote so I had to be very carefull not to set it off untill I removed it because the alarm master control was shorting its self out , but the lights and horn would always go off lol and the only way for me to stop it was to turn the car over but the lights would stay flashing , id just end up pulling the horn fuse out haha

That's funny.  I've only ever had aftermarket alarms in the ones i've picked up.     ::)

some 1g's come with a factory security system like you describe.

when you lock the doors it engages....  so if someone smashes a window... and opens it from the inside door handle the alarm will go off (horn honks on/off and also park lights flash).  I dont think it has any shock sensitive option on the 1g for the factory alarm.  to disable it you use your key on the outside drivers door ltumblerand lock/unlock it... that will turn it off.

many other japanes import cars use the same sort of factory security system as well.  many owners done know they exsist till they leave the doors locked with the window down... then open the door from the inside.... the horns blaze, the lights flash and the owners sit there dumbfounded on whats going on or how to make it stop.  most just get back in the car and start it up and drive away with the alarm still going off.... hahaha i have seen that a few times in my day...... hilarious.

It might, i never noticed this fuel or ign. Cut,  cause the alarm would stop as soon as i turned the car over, except the lights would keep flashing untill the alarm would finish its cycle

If you want to disable your car. The easiest way I found was to wire the fuse for the fuel pump rewire some where accessible. Then just pull the fuse when you park your car.
